The Good Girl by Mary Kubica
When Mia returns months after her abduction, there are more
questions then answers, like why does she insist on being called Chloe instead
of by her real name?
The good girl is a gripping story of a kidnapping gone
wrong, a returned victim with amnesia, and a Detective fighting for answers.
Her story is cleverly told in three voices; that of her
mother, her captor, and the Detective assigned to her case.
I began reading this book on a long flight, and found myself
feeling disappointed when the plane touched down, and I was forced to close the
pages. The moment I could resume reading, I didn’t put the book down again
until the last page. Mary Kubica has
done an amazing job of bringing the three storytellers to life, to the point
that you can feel their frustrations, desires and intentions. They manage to fill in all the gaps that are
missing from Mia’s memory, while cleverly bouncing back and forth between the
past and the present.
With its plot twists, suspense and well thought out
characters, The Good Girl is a must read.
